Edvin Zuckovs, a 16-year-old schoolboy from Boston, Lincolnshire, is making history as the UK’s youngest teacher. Despite being in the midst of his own GCSE studies, Edvin spends time teaching in local schools, providing PSHE lessons to kids aged 10 to 13. While he cannot officially start a teacher training qualification until he turns 18, Edvin is currently banking up unpaid hours and reports that can later count towards his diploma. In addition to his unpaid teaching hours, Edvin is also employed as a private tutor for four hours per week, teaching maths and English to teenagers. Edvin’s workload is significant, as he juggles his own studies with his teaching responsibilities. He is currently enrolled in GCSEs in English, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, Russian, German, history, business, geography, and RE. However, Edvin remains undeterred, driven by his passion for teaching and his desire to inspire other young people. He believes that teenagers can make impactful decisions that positively shape their future, and he strives to be a role model for others. Edvin’s journey began when he was invited to give a talk at Carlton Road Academy in November 2021 following the publication of his book, “Young Life: Enjoy Life When You Can.” The book’s success made Edvin one of the UK’s youngest authors and led to an extended project qualification with the school until 2023. Edvin’s teaching role involves working with full classes, one-to-one groups, and workshops, assisting in PSHE lessons. He also conducts monthly assemblies in schools, sharing his insights on goal setting and personal achievement. Edvin’s dedication to teaching extends beyond the UK, as he has even given an assembly at a school in Lithuania. His unwavering commitment and enthusiasm have earned him the admiration of both students and colleagues, solidifying his reputation as a beacon of inspiration and a testament to the power of youth.
