Emilio Garcia, a former camera operator for Megan Thee Stallion, has filed a lawsuit against the rapper alleging harassment and a hostile work environment. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims that Garcia was subjected to fat-shaming and was forced to witness a sexual encounter between Megan and another woman in a moving vehicle while on a trip to Ibiza, Spain in June 2022. Garcia alleges that Megan questioned him about the incident and ordered him not to discuss it.
The lawsuit also alleges that Garcia’s compensation structure was changed from a monthly flat rate to work-for-hire after the trip, requiring him to submit an invoice after each job, which was followed by a reduction in assignments. Garcia, who quit his job in 2019 to work for Megan full-time, claims that he was classified as an independent contractor, but is seeking more than six figures for unpaid wages and benefits.
The lawsuit comes after singer Lizzo was sued by former dancers in August 2023, alleging that she forced them into a team-building night at a strip club. The allegations in both lawsuits highlight the ongoing issue of workplace harassment in the entertainment industry.
