The fairytale of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s post-royal life might be facing a bump in the road. Reports from InTouch magazine suggest that the couple, who founded their own startup, are struggling to maintain a stable team. Multiple employees have reportedly left the company, citing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s demanding and difficult management style.
“They’re incredibly difficult to work for,” an insider shared with InTouch, adding, “The numbers don’t lie. To have almost 20 staffers quitting tells its own story. It’s unprecedented, even for a startup.”
These allegations come just weeks after the couple’s Chief of Staff, Josh Kettler, suddenly resigned. Kettler’s departure, just three months after joining the company, comes as a further blow to the couple’s fledgling business venture.
While the recent accusations against Meghan and Harry might seem new, they are echoing accusations from her time in the Royal family. Reports surfaced previously accusing Meghan of bullying her staff while a member of the Royal Family. Although Meghan has denied these accusations, calling them a “calculated smear campaign,” Queen Elizabeth herself ordered a formal investigation into the claims. The results of this investigation were kept private, but the whispers of Meghan’s demanding personality have lingered.
The couple, who launched their lifestyle and kitchen brand, American Riviera Orchard, earlier this year, are also facing the challenge of finding a permanent CEO for the company. This lack of leadership, combined with the ongoing departures of employees, suggests a difficult path ahead for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s entrepreneurial journey. Whether this string of departures will ultimately derail the couple’s ambitions remains to be seen, but it certainly casts a shadow over their venture.
