Meghan Markle Silences Prince Harry with ‘We Can Multi-Task’ Riposte During Official Engagement

Meghan Markle once shot down her husband Prince Harry with just three words when he interrupted her during an appearance alongside Prince William and Princess Kate , a royal author has claimed. The event occurred in 2018, when the two couples were still speaking and made a public appearance at the Royal Foundation Forum. Meghan’s speech, which focused on empowering women, allegedly created controversy and tension among the four Royals.

Royal author Tom Bower has alleged in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors, that Harry’s intervening during Meghan’s speech had a far more significant impact than initially believed. At the time, Meghan said to her audience: “With so many campaigns like MeToo and TimesUp, there’s no better time to continue to shine a light on women feeling empowered and people supporting them. “You’ll often hear people say, ‘Well you’re helping people find their voice’ and I fundamentally disagree with that, because women don’t need to find a voice. They have a voice, they need to feel empowered to use it, and people need to be encouraged to listen.”

Harry then interrupted his future wife as he cracked a joke, which she quickly fired back at. Mr Bower wrote: “While Meghan spoke, Harry spotted William’s rictus grin… ‘Wedding first’, Harry whispered loudly.”

While he does claim the four all laughed at Harry’s joke, the author implies that the comment was his way of reminding his fiancé not to get ahead of herself. The author added: “‘We can multi-task’, Meghan replied to the unexpected interruption.”

However, he also explained that even as patrons of charities Royals have little influence over their day-to-day functioning and activities. The speech allegedly created an ‘awkward’ moment ( Image: Getty Images)

He wrote: “That power was exercised by the Foundation’s executives, an unimpressive group criticised for ineptly moving the royals around like chess pieces. While William, Kate and Harry had become accustomed to their motley behaviour, Meghan’s arrival as a natural recruit for the Foundation’s philanthropic work disturbed the rhythm of the executives’ habits. Her feminism also upset their ingrained conservatism.”

The comments come after Hollywood star Melissa McCarthy praised Meghan for her personality and admitted she doesn’t understand the hate she receives. The Bridesmaids star also admitted feeling that the way people treat Meghan makes her feel sad for “every woman.”

She said: “It bums me out for every woman and every person, that for no reason people just like to attack. A smart interesting woman that has her own life, for some reason, is incredibly threatening to some people.” Talking to Page Six, Melissa, 53, added: “I always think, how inspiring! I’ve never once been threatened by someone who is amazing. I just think how inspiring. It’s really on the people throwing the hate.”

She continued to describe Meghan as “wonderful” and “awesome.” The Mirror has contacted Meghan’s rep for comment.
