A former aide to Meghan Markle, Samantha Cohen, has come forward to confirm her involvement in the palace investigation into allegations of bullying against the Duchess of Sussex. Cohen, who worked closely with Queen Elizabeth II for 17 years, was among the 10 aides interviewed as part of the investigation.
The allegations, which Meghan strongly denies, prompted an investigation ordered by the late Queen after claims that she had humiliated and driven female aides to quit. The investigation’s final report was kept private to protect those involved.
Cohen’s decision to speak out has been met with anticipation by royal expert Tom Bower, who believes that more information about the alleged bullying will now emerge. Bower stated, “Until a few days ago, Ms. Cohen and fellow palace staff had remained silent. Now, finally, that dam has been breached — and I have no doubt that more will now emerge.”
Meghan has faced scrutiny over her treatment of staff members in the past. In 2018, her former PA Melissa Touabti left after six months amid reports that she had been “reduced to tears” by Meghan’s demands. Senior comms secretary Katrina McKeever also quit the press team in September of that year.
Despite these allegations, Meghan and Harry later rehired Cohen to front crucial Megxit negotiations with the Queen about their future. A royal insider revealed, “It was a no brainer for Harry to bring back Samantha. They have a close working relationship and he knows how much the Queen respects her.”
The resurfacing of these allegations is likely to reignite the debate about Meghan’s behavior and its impact on the royal family.
