Meghan Markle’s forthcoming lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, has piqued the curiosity of fans since its website launch in March. Subtle hints about the brand’s offerings have emerged through a whimsical video of the Duchess arranging flowers and baking, showcasing her passion for homemaking. Additionally, thoughtful gift packages sent to her close friends, including Abigail Spencer, Mindy Kaling, Tracy Robbins, and Delfina Blaquier, may provide clues about potential products. The packages featured homemade strawberry jam, lemons, flowers, and a beautiful stone-coloured ceramic pedestal fruit bowl, hinting at a homeware line. Trademark applications filed for American Riviera Orchard include tableware, cutlery, dinnerware, decanters, napkins, tablecloths, and a variety of food items ranging from jams and jellies to spreads and butters. Fans may anticipate the opportunity to purchase similar chic homeware in the future. Another trademark application extension lists cosmetic and beauty products, including scented oils, soaps, and haircare, expanding the brand’s offerings. Meghan’s new venture draws comparisons to her former lifestyle website, The Tig, which served as a hub for discerning individuals with interests in food, travel, fashion, and beauty. Launched in 2014, The Tig featured travel tips, style advice, recipes, and interviews with influential figures. Just months before her engagement to Prince Harry in November 2017, Meghan made the decision to close down The Tig, and deactivated all of her public social media accounts in early 2018 as she prepared to join the royal family. Since stepping back as senior royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have established their new life in the US, securing commercial deals with Netflix, Spotify, and publishing book contracts. While Meghan has not made a personal return to Instagram, she has launched a business page for American Riviera Orchard. The initial nine posts on the account showcase a jigsaw of the brand’s logo, confirming its Montecito base. The brand’s name, American Riviera Orchard, references the Sussexes’ life in the US, as Montecito is located in Santa Barbara, often referred to as the ‘American Riviera’.
