Luke Bryan and Ryan Seacrest, judges on the popular singing competition show ‘American Idol,’ have weighed in on who they believe could potentially replace departing judge Katy Perry. After Perry recently announced her exit from the show to pursue her music career further, Bryan and Seacrest have put forward singer Meghan Trainor as a strong candidate for the vacant position.
Bryan, 47, expressed his belief that Trainor would be a ‘fun’ replacement for Perry, citing her engaging personality and witty demeanor. Seacrest, 49, echoed Bryan’s sentiments, highlighting Trainor’s talent and sense of humor. Trainor, 30, has prior judging experience on ‘Australian Idol’ and ‘The Voice UK,’
In addition to Trainor, Bryan stated that he has a list of 10 other names he is considering for the judging panel but declined to reveal them. Fellow judge Lionel Richie also shared his suggestions, which included former ‘Idol’ winner Kelly Clarkson and global superstar Taylor Swift. Richie emphasized that whoever replaces Perry should be able to have a good time and engage in light-hearted banter with the other judges.
Perry, who has been a judge on ‘American Idol’ for seven seasons, has expressed her desire for her replacement to be a ‘truth teller’ who is not afraid to express their opinions gracefully and without regard to online criticism. The show’s producers have yet to announce who will officially replace Perry at the end of the current season.
