Former First Lady Melania Trump is set to make an appearance at the Republican National Convention next week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Two individuals familiar with the situation confirmed this to the Associated Press, revealing that Melania will be present at the convention where her husband, former President Donald Trump, is scheduled to be nominated. The convention, slated to run from July 15th to 18th, will mark one of Melania’s first public appearances in months, signifying her support for her husband’s presidential campaign.
Melania Trump has maintained a relatively low profile since leaving the White House, prioritizing raising her teenage son Barron. She has made occasional appearances alongside Donald Trump, notably at his Super Tuesday victory party and his 78th birthday party in June. Donald Trump has often described Melania as a “private” individual who prefers staying out of the spotlight but endures the pressure for his sake.
During a Fox News townhall in February, Trump remarked, “You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband, because he’s not introducing them. If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person.” He has consistently praised Melania’s dedication to Barron and her charitable endeavors, stating, “Her life revolves around that boy. It’s so important to her. At the same time, it also revolves around our country and the success of our country. She’s raised a lot of money for charity. She’s a private person.”
Another prominent member of the Trump family, Lara Trump, currently serves as the Republican National Committee co-chair. Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, and other family members are also expected to attend the convention.
