Melissa McCarthy Slams Trolls Targeting Meghan Markle

Melissa McCarthy has come to the defense of Meghan Markle, criticizing the relentless online attacks and criticisms that the Duchess of Sussex has faced recently.

McCarthy, speaking at the Broadway opening of ‘Suffs,’ expressed her dismay at the negative treatment of Markle, particularly in the wake of the launch of her strawberry jam.

“It bums me out for every woman and every person, that for no reason people just like to attack,” McCarthy said. “A smart interesting woman that has her own life, for some reason, is incredibly threatening to some people.”

McCarthy went on to describe Markle as “wonderful” and “awesome,” and praised her ongoing charitable work.

“They’re carving out their own lives. They’re carving out their lives for their kids,” McCarthy said.

The actress’s comments come amid ongoing scrutiny of Markle and Prince Harry, who have faced criticism for their public appearances and lifestyle choices.

In 2021, McCarthy and Markle appeared together in a video to celebrate Markle’s 40th birthday and the launch of her ’40×40′ mentorship program. The video, which humorously poked fun at Markle’s royal connections, faced criticism at the time.

Despite the criticism, McCarthy maintains her admiration for Markle and her work.

“I always think, how inspiring! I’ve never once been threatened by someone who is amazing. I just think how inspiring,” McCarthy said. “It’s really on the people throwing the hate.”
