Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging and Starbucks have announced a strategic partnership to electrify over 100 Starbucks stores across the United States. The first phase of this collaboration will see the installation of industry-leading 400 kW electric vehicle (EV) chargers at Starbucks locations along Interstate 5 (I-5), a major west coast travel route.
Both companies share a vision to expand this initiative to other key markets, including urban centers, charging deserts, and critical travel corridors. This partnership aims to improve the EV charging experience for all drivers. “The collaboration between two leading brands like Mercedes-Benz and Starbucks will uplift the charging experience for all EV drivers,” said a representative from Mercedes-Benz. “Together, we seek to infuse delight into this facet of EV ownership through intentional experiences that make drivers genuinely excited to plug in. We envision a future where charging your vehicle is as easy as enjoying your favorite Starbucks.”
Starbucks also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. “At Starbucks, we have a long history of bringing renewable and clean energy projects to connect communities that lack this infrastructure,” said a Starbucks spokesperson. “Partnering with Mercedes is the next step in expanding our EV charging network so our customers can refuel sustainably while they enjoy Starbucks.”
Sustainability is a core principle for both Mercedes-Benz and Starbucks. Starbucks’ commitment to reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 aligns with this partnership. Currently, Starbucks customers can charge their EVs at over 1,000 of their stores. By expanding their EV charging network, Starbucks aims to bring renewable energy and clean technology to more communities.
Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging is actively developing a public charging network open to all vehicle brands. This network is powered by 100% clean energy, contributing to Mercedes-Benz’s “Ambition 2039” goal of carbon neutrality across its fleet and value chain. Since its launch, the network has expanded rapidly, opening charging stations in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, and Florida.
Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging is committed to enhancing the charging experience by working with leading brands to address gaps in quality, improve spatial design, and create innovative customer offerings. Their network is designed to be the fastest, most driver-centric EV charging network available.
Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging is a joint venture between subsidiaries of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and MN8 Energy LLC. Starbucks Coffee Company, founded in 1971, is a global leader in specialty coffee, with nearly 39,000 stores worldwide.
