Meridian Waste Acquisitions, LLC, a prominent non-hazardous, integrated solid waste services company, has made a significant move to bolster its presence in the Southeast by acquiring Evergreen Environmental Partners Holdings, LLC (EEP) and ADSI Holdings, LLC (ADSI). The acquisition, effective September 1, 2024, expands Meridian Waste’s operational footprint into Alabama and Mississippi, adding a range of assets to its portfolio.
The acquired entities, previously owned by BTG Pactual Strategic Capital, bring valuable assets to Meridian Waste, including a municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill, a transfer station, and additional third-party transfer station operations. These additions also include hauling, administrative, and maintenance facilities serving commercial, industrial, and residential contracts across Alabama and Mississippi.
The acquisition is strategically important for Meridian Waste, as it enhances the company’s Southeast environmental services portfolio. This strategic move is expected to provide financial benefits to both the company and its private shareholders.
Key assets acquired in this deal include the Noble Hill MSW Landfill and EEP Transfer Station located in the Huntsville, Alabama marketplace. Additionally, the acquisition encompasses over 50 municipal contracts, including exclusive residential collections and transfer station hauling operations. This also includes commercial and industrial accounts serviced across both Alabama and Mississippi.
“Meridian Waste is in full growth mode, as exhibited by the company’s announcement of its largest acquisition yet of these impressive Alabama and Mississippi assets,” stated Walter “Wally” Hall, Meridian Waste’s CEO. “Our management team is very familiar with the Alabama and Mississippi marketplaces from previous roles in the industry. We are confident that we can grow the solid base of business already built by Darren and Anthony Rizzo alongside the many dedicated team members of EEP and ADSI and with the continued support of our private equity partner, Warren Equity Partners. Together, we look forward to integrating these assets into our Southeast footprint and having Meridian Waste become a major part of the Alabama and Mississippi solid waste services industry.”
This marks Meridian Waste’s thirtieth acquisition since the company transitioned to private stock under the ownership of Warren Equity Partners (WEP) in April 2018.
Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Meridian Waste is a company dedicated to providing exceptional service to its customers, fostering a positive and engaged work environment for its employees, and generating value for its shareholders. Meridian Waste currently operates in multiple states, including Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia, and more. The company services over 524,520 residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental customers.
In addition to its fleet of commercial, residential, and roll-off trucks, Meridian Waste operates a comprehensive network of facilities, including 31 hauling companies, eight transfer stations/materials recycling facilities (MRFs), three municipal solid waste landfills, and four C&D landfills. This strategic acquisition by Meridian Waste solidifies its commitment to growth and its position as a leading player in the Southeast waste management industry.
