In a major blow to the drug trade, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police Special Cell have successfully dismantled a clandestine methamphetamine manufacturing lab in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The lab, allegedly operated by a powerful Mexican drug cartel, was discovered in the Kasana Industrial Area during a joint operation.
The raid, conducted on October 25th, led to the arrest of four individuals. Among them were a Delhi-based businessman, who was found present at the factory during the raid, and a Tihar Jail warden. The NCB’s Deputy Director General (Operations), Gyaneshwar Singh, revealed that initial investigations suggest the businessman played a crucial role in establishing the illegal factory. He was responsible for procuring chemicals required for manufacturing methamphetamine from various sources and importing the necessary machinery.
The authorities seized a staggering amount of drugs, totaling over 95 kg of methamphetamine in both solid and liquid forms. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is believed to be in the hundreds of crores.
This bust underscores the growing threat posed by transnational drug cartels and highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating drug trafficking. The NCB and Delhi Police are currently conducting further investigations to uncover the full extent of the operation and identify other individuals involved in the illicit activities.
