Good news for Mumbaikars looking to buy affordable housing! The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced a price reduction for surplus housing units in its upcoming Mumbai lottery. This applies to units acquired under Sections 33(5) and 33(7) and offers discounts ranging from 10% to 25% depending on the income category.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), shared the news. “I am pleased to announce a reduction in the cost of MHADA houses on declared price for the current Mumbai Lottery. This applies to the surplus tenements received under Sections 33(5) and 33(7) only.”
The revised reductions are as follows:

The flats will be available in popular areas including Malad, Powai, Vikhroli, Goregaon, and Wadala.
The MHADA lottery for Mumbai is highly sought after, with over 30,000 applications already submitted since the application period opened on August 9th. The deadline for applications has been extended to September 19th. MHADA is anticipating a high number of applications, as the lottery has received over 100,000 applications in total for its 2023 lottery.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the MHADA housing scheme, applicants must meet the following income criteria:

Family income up to ₹ 6 lakh per year.*
LIG:
Family income between ₹ 6 lakh and ₹ 9 lakh per year.*
MIG:
Family income between ₹ 9 lakh and ₹ 12 lakh per year.*
HIG:
