Over 500 employees from various agencies that work diligently at Miami International Airport (MIA) were treated to a special lunch as part of the second annual Guardians Appreciation Day. The event was organized by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and the Miami Airline Management Council (AMC) and took place on Friday, May 17, 2024. Among the agencies represented were Miami-Dade Police, Miami-Dade Fire, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The annual gathering was held just before Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in Miami-Dade County and coincided with Public Service Recognition Week, which honors federal, state, county, local, and tribal government workers.
Leaders from MDAD and AMC took the opportunity to thank the frontline public safety and security employees for their hard work and dedication. The lunch was served across different shifts to accommodate the varying schedules of the employees. This event serves as a small token of appreciation for the invaluable contributions these individuals make to the safety and security of MIA and the traveling public.
