A recent incident in Tamil Nadu involving a hoarding at a religious gathering has ignited widespread controversy and debate online. The hoarding, erected during the ‘Aadi’ festival celebrated across the state, featured a picture of former adult movie star Mia Khalifa. The festival, dedicated to worshipping Goddess Amman (Parvati), is observed with great fervor and draws thousands of devotees to grand celebrations.
During one such celebration in Kuruvimalai, a hoarding adorned with lights featured Mia Khalifa alongside images of deities. The adult film star’s picture was altered to depict her carrying a ‘paal kudam’, a traditional milk vessel, a common offering made at temples during the festival. Interestingly, the hoarding also displayed pictures of individuals involved in its creation in an Aadhaar card-style format.
Images of the billboard quickly spread on social media, sparking heated discussions. The police were notified about the incident, and authorities responded promptly by removing the hoarding. Following the viral image, the Magaral Police Station took action to remove the controversial billboard, as reported by news agency IANS.
However, local authorities have yet to provide an explanation regarding the use of Mia Khalifa’s image on the hoarding. It remains unclear whether it was a deliberate act or an unintentional error.
Social media users reacted strongly to the incident. One comment reflected the general sentiment: “Tamil Nadu poster addiction is next level.” Another user added, “India is not for beginners…Kitne tejaswi log hain hamare pass…ULTRA PRO MAX FAN.”
An X (formerly Twitter) user demanded immediate action, calling for the culprit’s arrest: “Definitely it is the printer’s mischief. Immediately arrest the culprit.”
