Michael Kors Collection unveiled its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, aptly titled “Mediterranean Romance,” at the Hudson Yards’ “The Shed.” This collection marks a significant milestone, celebrating the brand’s 35-year partnership with Italian artisans and factories. Designer Michael Kors, drawing inspiration from his beloved Mediterranean islands like Capri, Ischia, and Procida, crafted a collection that exudes a relaxed yet refined elegance.
The runway was adorned with large rock-like sculptures, reminiscent of the Italian coastline, setting the stage for a collection that embraces the essence of effortless luxury. Kors himself, in a pre-show preview, expressed his vision, stating, “Everyone wants to live in a resort, as far as I know. You can have both the urban sophistication and the resort mood. You can be more relaxed in the city, and you can be more elegant in a resort. People are yearning for an escape from the city.”
Classic pieces like one-piece dresses and denim skirts were elevated with meticulous hand embroidery, embodying a subtle sense of luxury. The monochrome floral prints, initially appearing as printed patterns, were crafted from hand-pleated organza. This collection seamlessly integrates the American desire for comfort, whether it’s day or night. Many dresses featured open backs, incorporating a sporty element reminiscent of swimwear. The silhouette was defined by sculpted waists, creating a flattering and elegant form.
Artisanal accents, such as raffia fringe on garments and accessories, added a touch of whimsy and movement, evoking a refreshing breeze with each sway. Drawing inspiration from the Netflix series “Ripley,” another key element of the collection was a darker, monochrome palette, further emphasizing the meticulous craftsmanship. The strategic pairing of dark hues was a standout element. A navy blazer, a signature piece for Kors, was the centerpiece of relaxed yet elegant suits composed of rich chocolate brown and black.
Adding to the buzz surrounding the collection, TWICE member Dahyun, a brand ambassador, made a surprise appearance. Her chocolate brown monochrome look epitomized the collection’s relaxed yet sophisticated vibe, showcasing the perfect balance of comfort and urban chic.
