Microsoft to Delete Xbox Game Captures Older Than 90 Days From May 30

Xbox Game Captures to Be Deleted After 90 Days

Microsoft has announced another round of Xbox game capture deletions, starting from May 30th. This means that any Xbox game captures that have been stored on the Xbox Network for longer than 90 days will be removed.

The deletion will only affect captures that have been uploaded to the Xbox Network, such as screenshots and clips. Local captures stored on your console will not be affected.

Automatic Upload Feature for Captures

To avoid losing your valuable captures, Microsoft recommends backing them up to an external drive or OneDrive. The company has added an automatic upload feature to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, which automatically uploads your captures to OneDrive.

To enable this feature, go to the Captures menu in the Settings and follow the instructions. You can access your uploaded captures by logging into OneDrive with your Microsoft account and selecting the Captures folder.

Preserving Achievement Guides

If you have uploaded captures to TrueAchievements for achievement guides, Microsoft has converted them into YouTube videos to ensure that your guides remain intact. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about your guides becoming inaccessible due to the capture deletion policy.
