Millennium Space Systems Secures Contract for Additional Missile Track Custody Satellites

## Millennium Space Systems Wins Contract for Additional Missile Track Custody Satellites

In a significant boost to national security, Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing company, has been awarded an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) by the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command. This contract will see the delivery of an additional six Missile Track Custody (MTC) satellites, bolstering the existing Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking Medium Earth Orbit Epoch 1 program.

This latest agreement brings Millennium Space Systems’ total contract to 12 MTC satellites, including their associated ground system and mission operations. The company is now responsible for delivering two planes, or ‘constellations,’ of these critical satellites.

“MTC is vital to our nation’s resilient missile warning, tracking, and defense architecture, and a second plane gets us that much closer to global coverage,” emphasized Michelle Parker, vice president of Boeing Space Mission Systems. “Our ability to deliver stems from our robust bus and payload designs, along with achieving key milestones on rapid timelines.”

The MTC satellites, designed and manufactured by Boeing, feature advanced electro-optical infrared payloads. These payloads incorporate cutting-edge sensor technology for high-resolution tracking and custody capabilities from Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). This advanced technology enables real-time data analysis at the leading edge of detection, significantly reducing the time between threat identification and response.

Beyond the satellites themselves, Millennium Space Systems has also completed the critical design review for the MTC’s ground system earlier this year. “Small satellite proliferation necessitates a fundamentally different ground concept compared to traditional systems,” explained Lindsay Dewald, MTC program manager at Millennium Space Systems. “Our approach involves architecting an automated mission operations system with real-time and pre-planned tasking capabilities.”

This robust ground system will seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure. The mission-unique software automates key tasks, allowing operators to focus their attention on more crucial, value-adding responsibilities. This innovative ground system design further enhances the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the MTC program.
