Millions of Premium Bond prizes worth a total of £83,367,525 remain unclaimed, with six people sitting on £100,000 each. Premium Bonds are a savings product by National Savings & Investment (NS&I) but instead of earning a guaranteed rate of interest, you’re entered into a monthly prize draw. This means it is down to luck whether you’ll win anything – and some months, you may not win anything at all.
There are two £1million prizes handed out each month, versus millions of much smaller prizes. The lowest prize you can possibly win is £25 – but again, it isn’t guaranteed that you’ll win anything at all some months. The total number of unclaimed prizes stands at 2,399,977.
NS&I should contact you when you’ve won a prize – but if you’ve moved home or not updated your personal details online, then it is possible that NS&I has been unable to contact you. Customers can choose to have their prizes paid into their bank account or to have them reinvested into new Premium Bonds.
