Former Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen has accused Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz of being a ‘teflon politician’ due to his ties to Imam Asad Zaman, a Muslim cleric who has expressed support for Hamas and shared antisemitic content online.
Imam Zaman has been a vocal supporter of Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group responsible for the recent attacks against Israelis on October 7th. He has shared official Hamas press releases, antisemitic blog posts, and a 2015 link to a pro-Hitler film on his Facebook page. This film, released in 2013, is considered antisemitic and popular among fringe groups, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
In addition to his online activities, Zaman has also been active in the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, which has received over $100,000 in donations from Walz’s administration. Federal prosecutors have described the Muslim American Society as ‘founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S.’
Walz has repeatedly been seen with Zaman at various events. They participated in a Ramadan event in May 2019, a mosque security meeting in May 2023, and a 2020 event advocating for peaceful protests during the Black Lives Matter riots in Minnesota. Zaman also delivered an invocation at Walz’s state address in April 2019.
These associations have raised concerns about Walz’s judgment and his willingness to associate with individuals who hold extremist views. Critics point to Walz’s failure to condemn Zaman’s actions and his continued support for the Muslim American Society as evidence of his willingness to overlook controversial figures.
The Harris-Walz campaign did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment by press deadline. This situation highlights the increasing scrutiny of political figures’ connections to organizations and individuals with extremist views.
