Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu finished in fourth place in the Women’s 49kg Weightlifting event at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday, narrowly missing out on a medal for India.
Chanu lifted a total of 199 kg, showcasing her strength and determination. However, she was edged out by Zhihui Hou of China, who secured the gold medal with a total lift of 206 kg. Mihaela Valentina Cambei of Romania claimed silver with 205 kg, while Surodchana Khambao of Thailand secured bronze with 200 kg.
Despite missing out on the podium, Chanu’s performance was commendable, and she remains a prominent figure in Indian weightlifting. Her dedication and commitment continue to inspire countless athletes across the country.
