Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and daughter of party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Misa Bharti, has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo was removed from Covid-19 vaccination certificates due to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Covishield vaccine. This follows reports that AstraZeneca, the pharmaceutical giant that developed Covishield in partnership with the University of Oxford, has admitted in court documents that the vaccine could cause a rare side effect known as Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS). Several social media users had noticed the absence of PM Modi’s picture on vaccination certificates, sparking speculations. However, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has cited the Model Code of Conduct for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls as the reason behind the photo’s removal. AstraZeneca has reiterated its commitment to patient safety and emphasized the vaccine’s overall safety profile amidst the concerns. Amidst the controversy, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticized the BJP, claiming that people who received the vaccine will vote against the party.
