Missoni, the iconic Italian fashion house known for its vibrant knitwear and signature zigzag patterns, is once again navigating a change in creative leadership. Filippo Grazioli, who took the helm as creative director just over two years ago, has announced his departure to explore “new creative and artistic challenges.”
Grazioli’s departure marks the latest chapter in a series of shifts at Missoni. He joined the family-owned brand in 2022, taking responsibility for both men’s and women’s collections, as well as the lifestyle division. Prior to Missoni, Grazioli honed his skills at Burberry under Riccardo Tisci, serving as design director for women’s runway and later as a consultant. He also held the position of head designer for women’s ready-to-wear at Givenchy, again under the direction of Tisci.
Stepping into Grazioli’s role is Alberto Caliri, a seasoned Missoni veteran. Caliri has held the position of creative director on an interim basis previously, stepping in after Angela Missoni, daughter of the brand’s founder, departed in 2021 amid a management shake-up. Caliri has been with Missoni since 1998, most recently leading the home and sport categories.
Grazioli’s tenure at Missoni saw him lean into the brand’s signature zigzag stripes with a “unwavering focus,” according to Vogue Runway’s Tiziana Cardini. His Spring/Summer 2025 collection was styled by Imruh Asha, a Paris-based stylist, creative consultant, and Dazed fashion director, known for his eclectic use of color. This combination resulted in a collection described as “both punchy and strangely captivating.”
“We are grateful to Filippo for his contribution and dedication. We look to the future with confidence, continuing our path of growth driven by innovation and quality while staying true to our strong identity,” stated Missoni CEO Livio Proli.
Grazioli expressed his gratitude as well, stating, “It has been an honor and a privilege to be part of Missoni. I am proud of the achievements and the experiences shared with the entire team. I am now ready to face new challenges and explore new frontiers.”
As Missoni navigates this latest change, the fashion world awaits to see how Caliri will shape the brand’s creative direction and whether the iconic zigzag pattern will continue to define its future.
