MMA fighter Ali Heibati has been handed a lifetime ban by the World Fight Championships (WFC) after kicking a ring girl in the head ahead of a fight.
The incident took place at a WFC event in Australia on February 11, 2023. Heibati was scheduled to fight fellow Iranian fighter Majid Ghafouri, but the bout was canceled after the ring girl, identified only as ‘Sarah’, was attacked.
According to witnesses, Heibati became enraged after Sarah accidentally bumped into him as she was entering the ring. Heibati then turned around and kicked her in the head, causing her to fall to the ground.
Sarah was taken to the hospital for treatment, and Heibati was immediately arrested and charged with assault. He was later released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 8, 2023.
The WFC has condemned Heibati’s actions and has vowed to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its staff and attendees. The organization has also banned Heibati from competing in any future events and has stripped him of his WFC title.
