The team that brought you the popular restaurant Sushiritto has now unveiled a new concept: the first-of-its-kind mochi pizza. This pizza is made entirely of Japanese rice flour, and features a crispy outside with a chewy inside like mochi.
Chef Ty Mahler, the Co-Founder of Mochiko Mochi Pizza, shared that the goal was to create a pizza with a crispy outside and a chewy inside like mochi. This required extensive research and experimentation, and the team scrapped the recipe for a year and a half before finally perfecting it.
The team focused on pushing boundaries with flavor and finding the tastiest toppings to accentuate the unique texture of the mochi crust. Toppings range from soy-braised beef and roasted garlic kimchi to Japanese curry and fresh cilantro.
The Mochiko Mochi Pizza is available at the flagship location in Burlingame, as well as at the Palo Alto and San Francisco Sushiritto locations. People have been traveling from all over to try this unique pizza, and the team is excited to share it with the world.
