Amidst Bangladesh’s ongoing political transition, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a phone conversation with Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government. The conversation, confirmed by Modi on X (formerly Twitter), focused on the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh.
Yunus assured Modi that the Bangladesh government is committed to the “safety and protection” of all minorities within the country. Modi, in turn, reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, and progressive Bangladesh.
The call comes as Bangladesh navigates a period of uncertainty following the recent elections. India’s close relationship with Bangladesh, underscored by Modi’s statement, suggests a continued commitment to regional stability and the well-being of its neighboring nation.
