During his Sunday radio broadcast, ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a call to action to India’s youth, urging them to actively participate in the country’s political landscape. He emphasized the transformative potential of young people entering politics, claiming that their involvement would be crucial in shaping India’s future.
Modi referenced his recent call for 100,000 young individuals with no prior political lineage to join the political arena. He expressed satisfaction with the positive response to his appeal, stating that a large number of young people are eager to enter politics but require the right guidance and opportunities.
Taking a subtle jab at opposition parties, which he often criticizes for nepotism, Modi stated that many talented young individuals are unable to enter politics due to the lack of a political legacy in their families. He expressed hope that his initiative would open doors for these individuals, emphasizing that their fresh perspectives and energy would prove valuable to the nation.
Modi further emphasized the need for a renewed sense of purpose and dedication, akin to the fervor witnessed during India’s independence movement, to achieve the ambitious goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047. He encouraged young people to actively participate in this endeavor, highlighting the positive impact it would have on their own futures and the country’s overall progress.
Beyond politics, Modi also addressed the importance of sustainability and responsible waste management. He highlighted the efforts of individuals and startups actively contributing to environmental protection and resource conservation.
Modi praised a team of sanitation workers in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, who have transformed garbage into works of art. They collect plastic waste, used bottles, tires, and pipes from their neighborhood and utilize these materials to create imaginative sculptures, such as helicopters, cars, cannons, and hanging flowerpots. Their initiative serves as a practical demonstration of the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ principle.
He also showcased the work of a startup named Ecokaari, which produces beautiful items from discarded materials. Modi concluded by urging listeners to participate in toy recycling, encouraging them to donate unwanted toys to children who lack access to such resources.
