The Montauk Yacht Club, a 107-key seaside resort and marina on Star Island, has reopened its doors after a multi-million-dollar renovation. This revamp signifies a new era for the resort, which has been managed by Proper Hospitality within The Collective, a portfolio of independent, design-driven hotels. Originally built in 1928, the Montauk Yacht Club has undergone extensive capital improvements, transforming the guest experience.
The newly opened Ocean Club Montauk introduces a unique dining experience spearheaded by acclaimed South African Chef Jarad McCarroll. Drawing inspiration from his St. Barths location, the restaurant offers a tantalizing menu featuring fresh seafood, local produce, a raw bar, and Braai—a traditional South African grilling method. With a spacious 220-seat capacity, the restaurant boasts the largest open kitchen in the Hamptons, providing breathtaking waterfront views of Montauk’s picturesque landscape, yachting culture, and seaside lifestyle.
The resort’s common spaces, outdoor facilities, rooms, and suites have all undergone a complete refresh, offering guests an elevated experience. Spacious rooms are adorned with curated Aesop amenities, adding a touch of luxury to the stay. A new 24-hour gym, equipped with state-of-the-art strength training equipment, including Woodway Treadmills, Octane ADX air bikes, RO rowing machines, TRX equipment, and weekly fitness and health classes, is available for Montauk Water Club members and hotel guests.
Starting in July, the resort will showcase Proper Hospitality’s commitment to wellness with a comprehensive spa menu of services. Through an exclusive partnership with La Prairie, luxury skincare treatments will be offered in the Hamptons for the first time. Locals, visitors, and resort guests can book facial treatments at La Prairie Spa at Montauk Yacht Club, featuring La Prairie’s renowned Skin Caviar Collection and Platinum Rare Collection. Additionally, La Prairie’s latest innovation, Skin Caviar The Mist, will be incorporated into the summer facial offerings. The Cabana at Montauk Yacht Club will also provide a variety of body treatments, including massages and wraps, as well as wellness activities like yoga and breathwork classes.
The newly introduced Market at Montauk Yacht Club offers gourmet groceries, provisions, beverages, beer, wine, snacks, sandwiches, salads, and more from Chef McCarroll. Adjacent to The Market, The Shop at Montauk Yacht Club is a spacious boutique featuring skincare, fashion, jewelry, accessories, and more from esteemed brands like Illesteva, Isla Beauty, Maria La Rosa, and Nu Swim. The Shop also showcases a curated ready-to-wear collection from Forty Five Ten, the luxury retailer from Dallas, tailored for a Montauk-inspired seaside resort.
The resort’s outdoor facilities have been significantly upgraded, including two updated pools—the adult-only Ocean Club Pool and the family-friendly Great Lawn Pool—a private beach, two tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, bocce courts, and two new Padel courts in partnership with Privé Padel, the first in Montauk. Guests have the option to use electric Moke cars to go surfing at local beaches or explore the town, with complimentary Linus bikes available for use.
Situated on 35 acres, the resort boasts the largest marina in the Hamptons, with over 200 slips accommodating day boats and superyachts. Guests can enjoy complimentary paddleboards, charter yachts for day excursions, or ride on the property’s House Fleet of electric X-Shore vessels. In partnership with BLADE, guests can travel from New York City to Montauk Yacht Club via plane or helicopter, landing at Montauk Airport and transferring via the house fleet.
Throughout the season, the resort will host a variety of events, wellness programs, and musical performances, including a partnership with Billboard for a limited run of Marina Music Sessions and screenings with A24 and HamptonsFilm. The Montauk Yacht Club will continue operations until November at the seasonal property.
