Country singer Morgan Wallen has finally addressed an incident at a Nashville bar earlier this month that resulted in his arrest. On April 7th, Wallen was taken into custody after throwing a chair from the rooftop of Eric Church’s six-story Chief’s Bar. The arrest report states that the chair landed near Metro Nashville police officers, and footage showed Wallen “lunging and throwing an object over the roof.” Witnesses reported seeing Wallen laughing after the incident.
Wallen, who is currently on his One Night at a Time world tour, remained silent about the episode until Friday evening, when he posted a statement on his social media account. “I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks,” Wallen wrote. “I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.”
Wallen also expressed his respect for law enforcement and stated that his upcoming tour dates would not be affected. He is expected to face his charges in Nashville court on May 3rd, the same day he is scheduled to perform at the city’s Nissan Stadium.
Wallen is a prominent figure in country music, but this is not his first encounter with controversy. In 2020, he was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct after being ejected from a Nashville bar. The following year, he faced suspension from his record label and radio airplay ban after using a racial slur in a video that surfaced online.
Despite the setbacks, Wallen’s career has rebounded. His third studio album, “One Thing at a Time,” topped the Billboard 200 list for 19 consecutive weeks last year. His single “Last Night” holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1 for a non-collaboration song.
