Morgan Wallen, a prominent country singer, has issued a statement regarding his recent arrest in Nashville. On April 7th, Wallen was apprehended after throwing a chair off the rooftop of Chief’s Bar, a six-story establishment owned by fellow musician Eric Church.
This incident resulted in multiple felony charges of reckless endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. According to an arrest report, the chair narrowly missed Metro Nashville police officers standing nearby. Video footage reviewed by authorities depicted Wallen “lunging and throwing an object over the roof,” while witnesses reported seeing him laughing.
Wallen initially remained silent about the episode, which occurred during his One Night at a Time world tour. However, on Friday evening, he posted a statement on his social media account, expressing his regret for his actions and taking responsibility. He also stated that he had contacted local law enforcement, his family, and the staff at Chief’s to apologize.
“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks,” Wallen wrote. “I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.”
In a subsequent post, Wallen emphasized his respect for law enforcement officers and confirmed that his tour would proceed as scheduled, including a performance at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on the same day as his court hearing (May 3rd).
Wallen’s arrest and subsequent charges have drawn attention due to his high profile in the country music industry. This incident is not the first time he has faced criticism for his behavior. In 2020, he was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, and in 2021, he was suspended from his record label and removed from radio airplay after a video emerged of him using a racial slur.
Despite these controversies, Wallen has achieved significant success in recent years. His third studio album, “One Thing at a Time,” topped the Billboard 200 chart for 19 weeks, and his single “Last Night” set the record for the most weeks at No. 1 for any non-collaboration song.
