Morocco has set a new tourism record, welcoming a remarkable 10 million visitors by the end of July 2024. This represents a significant 15% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Projections (DSFP) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The strong performance of the tourism sector is evident in the impressive influx of 2.6 million tourists in July alone, marking a 20% rise from the previous year.
This substantial growth in visitor numbers is a testament to the country’s booming tourism industry. The first seven months of 2024 saw a total of 10 million tourists visiting Morocco, reflecting a significant growth trajectory. The country’s appeal as a tourist destination is further emphasized by the remarkable increase in overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments. These stays experienced an 8.4% increase, totaling 12.7 million by the end of June 2024. The second quarter of 2024 witnessed a notable 13.1% rise in overnight stays, reaching 7.2 million.
The positive trend extends to tourism revenues as well, with a 9.4% increase in the second quarter of 2024. This marks a remarkable recovery, following a 4.2% decline in the first quarter, and represents a 69.2% improvement from the previous year. These figures highlight the robust recovery and ongoing expansion of Morocco’s tourism industry, solidifying its position as a popular and thriving tourist destination.
