Fifteen years ago, Spencer Remezoff embarked on a new adventure that would ignite his passion: motorcycling. Seeking an adrenaline rush, he found it on two wheels. “A bike brings out the youth in you,” Remezoff exclaimed. “It’s like pedaling your bike as an eight-year-old, but without the effort. Just squeeze the throttle and go!” His enthusiasm grew, leading him to establish Platinum Recreation, a business catering to snowmobile, motorcycle, and ATV enthusiasts. “Everyone has their reasons for riding,” Remezoff said. “Some enjoy the camaraderie, while others prefer solo adventures.” However, the smaller frame and exposure to the elements can sometimes deter Remezoff from riding due to safety concerns. “We enjoy the freedom, but we also want to return home to our families,” he stated. Despite the risks, motorcyclists like Remezoff embrace the open road. They seek exhilaration, a sense of community, and the liberation that comes with riding. Yet, they remain aware of the need for caution and shared responsibility on the road. Experts like Tyler McMurchy of SGI remind drivers that cyclists, motorcyclists, and e-scooter riders have an equal right to the road. “Patience is crucial,” McMurchy advised. “Give them more space and anticipate their sudden stops. In a collision, the vehicle often prevails.” Motorcyclists also have a responsibility to ensure their safety. “They must operate like a motor vehicle, obeying traffic laws and avoiding weaving between cars,” McMurchy emphasized. “Unexpected movements in the lane can be dangerous for motorcyclists.” As summer invites motorcyclists to hit the road, a balance between excitement and safety is paramount. Sharing the road with respect and caution will ensure that the open road remains a source of joy for all.
