A driver in Minnesota is calling a large group of his fellow motorists “good Samaritans” after they feverishly worked together to pull him from the wreckage of a fiery crash.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the SUV burst into flames after the driver struck a light pole on Interstate 94 in the St. Paul area.
Video footage shows that the driver’s side of the vehicle ended up pinned on the wrong side of a guardrail.
As bystanders flocked to the burning vehicle to try and help whoever was inside, they found they couldn’t open the doors because the guardrail was in the way. Still, they tried with all their might to yank the doors open.
Eventually — just before flames engulfed the rest of the SUV, one of the car’s windows was smashed, which allowed the good Samaritans to pull the man to safety.
No one was hurt in the crash.
Afterwards, the man, identified by ABC News as Sam Orbovich, released a statement in which he said, “I am alive today because several good Samaritans … and professional first responders saved my life.”
