Mountain Lion Found Dead on 101 Freeway Near Wildlife Crossing Construction Site

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. (KABC) — A mountain lion was discovered lifeless in a traffic lane on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills on Saturday, less than half a mile from the construction site of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported.

Shortly before 5 a.m., the grim discovery was made in the slow lane of the freeway’s southbound side, near Liberty Canyon Road. According to a CHP incident log, the deceased animal’s body was moved to the right shoulder, and officials from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife were called to the scene.

The CHP could not immediately confirm whether the uncollared mountain lion had been involved in a vehicle collision. As more information becomes available, this story will be updated.
