M&S Slammed for Selling Free Chip Shop ‘Scraps’ for £2

Food fans have been left fuming after spotting a snack you can get for free selling for £2 in Marks and Spencer.

Lorna Cooper, a top budget shopper, was stunned by the price of the chip shop ‘scraps’ in the food aisle.

She posted her outrage on a Facebook group with over 670,000 followers, saying, “I can’t believe that 1) M&S are selling these and 2) that they are charging £2 for a tiny tub!” and the post quickly racked up over 3,000 likes and 1,700 comments.

Many commenters agreed with Lorna, with one saying, “My lovely Dad owned two fish and chip shops over 30 years and would turn in his grave seeing those sold for £2.”

Another wrote: “I think that’s known as taking the p***.”

A third added: “I’d rather spend the £2 on a small chips at our chippy and get the free scraps with it.”

However, not everybody is against the chip shop-inspired snack. Some people defended the £2 price tag, saying they enjoyed the scraps as part of their chippy tea or as a topping for salads.

A spokesperson for M&S said: “Our chip shop scraps have proved popular with customers up and down the country since launching back in 2018.”
