MTR Boosting Services for National Day Celebrations in Hong Kong

Get ready for a smooth ride during Hong Kong’s upcoming National Day celebrations! To accommodate the expected surge in passengers, the MTR Corporation is gearing up with enhanced services across multiple train lines.

From September 28th to October 13th, a total of 950 additional train trips will be scheduled to support the celebrations. These include special fare discounts, increased train frequencies, and extended service hours to cater to the high volume of people traveling to various events and tourist attractions.

A Celebration of National Day

As Hong Kong celebrates the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the MTR is joining in the festivities by offering a special 25% fare discount on all Octopus card trips on October 1st.

To ease the travel burden during the National Day celebrations, eight major lines will experience increased train frequencies. This is especially true during the afternoon and evening hours, accommodating those attending celebrations, visiting friends and relatives, or catching the dazzling fireworks display over Victoria Harbour.

Increased Train Frequencies for National Day Celebrations

With over 400 festive events planned across Hong Kong districts, including the iconic fireworks show at Victoria Harbour, the MTR is taking steps to make it easier for everyone to participate.

Specifically, the Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, and Kwun Tong Line will see services running as frequently as every three minutes during evening hours. The Tuen Ma Line will offer enhanced service with intervals of 3 to 4 minutes during peak evening hours, while the South Island Line will see increased frequencies throughout the day. The East Rail Line will provide more frequent services in both directions between Admiralty and the border stations of Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau, particularly during morning and evening hours.

Extended Services for National Day and the Chung Yeung Festival

To support local and tourist visits to various attractions throughout Hong Kong, the MTR is extending services on the Island Line, South Island Line, East Rail Line, and Disneyland Resort Line from September 28th to October 13th. This includes more frequent morning and evening trains to Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland via the South Island Line and Disneyland Resort Line. The East Rail Line will also operate more frequently in both directions.

Special Fare Discounts

Don’t miss out on the special fare discount for those traveling with an Octopus card on October 1st. Enjoy a 25% discount on all MTR rides, including the Light Rail and MTR Bus services in the Northwest New Territories, and on cross-boundary trips to and from the Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations on the East Rail Line.

MTR Corporation wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable travel experience during the holiday festivities.
