MTR Corporation is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a grand celebration – the ‘Chill Fun Trainival,’ a festive outdoor carnival running from September 25 to 29, 2024, at Central Harbourfront Event Space.
This expansive 36,000-square-meter event is a testament to MTR’s commitment to connecting and building communities, and it promises an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. The carnival is divided into five uniquely themed zones, each showcasing a blend of amusement rides, game booths, and captivating photo opportunities. These zones are designed to echo the daily impact of MTR’s railway services on community connection and enjoyment.
For the first time ever, attendees can try Hong Kong’s inaugural outdoor train driving simulator, offering a glimpse into the life of a train captain. The centerpiece of the carnival is an eight-meter-tall inflatable train, surrounded by a variety of railway-themed attractions, including the chance to view MTR’s maintenance vehicles up close – a rare opportunity for the public.
The event also promises over 10,000 exclusive prizes, adding to the festive atmosphere. Admission to the ‘Chill Fun Trainival’ is complimentary, with weekday hours from 1pm to 9pm and no prior registration required. For the weekend, attendees need to register via MTR Mobile starting September 10, for access to morning and afternoon sessions. Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis, with each ticket allowing four entries.
Throughout 2024, MTR has launched numerous activities to mark this milestone, including exhibitions and themed trains. The ‘Chill Fun Trainival’ is a culmination of these celebrations, highlighting MTR’s integral role in knitting together Hong Kong’s districts and fostering urban development over the past four and a half decades.

Admission to the “Chill Fun Trainival” is free from September 25 to 29, 2024. Weekday hours from September 25 to 27 are from 1pm to 9pm with no registration required. For the weekend sessions on September 28 and 29, you can choose between morning (10am to 3pm) and evening (4pm to 9pm) slots. Registration for these slots opens at noon on September 10, 2024, through the MTR Mobile app. Entry is limited and granted on a first-come, first-served basis, with each QR code ticket allowing four entries.
