Multiple Crew Members Injured on the Set of ‘Coming 2 America’ Sequel

An unfortunate incident occurred on the set of the upcoming movie “Coming 2 America” sequel, resulting in injuries to several crew members. The incident took place on April 20, 2023, outside Atlanta, Georgia, when a truck malfunctioned and struck a car.

According to a statement released by Amazon MGM studios on Tuesday, April 23, the sequence did not proceed as planned, leading to the injuries. The studio’s primary concern is the well-being of the crew and cast, and they emphasize their commitment to upholding the highest safety standards during filming. All necessary precautions had been reviewed and monitored prior to and during the shoot.

Sources close to the situation have described it as a “completely freak accident” that occurred during a relatively simple and non-hazardous stunt. The injuries sustained by the crew members ranged from minor bumps and bruises to more serious broken bones. Two crew members were taken to the hospital, with one remaining hospitalized as of Tuesday. Fortunately, both are expected to make full recoveries.

IATSE, the union representing crew members, is currently investigating the incident. The actors Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, and Tracy Morgan, who star in the film, were reportedly not present at the time of the accident.

The specific details of the plot remain largely confidential, but the script was written by Kenya Barris and Barry W. Blaustein, with Craig Brewer serving as director. In addition to Murphy, Hall, and Morgan, the cast includes Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne, and Wesley Snipes.

Production of the film has been temporarily halted while the incident is investigated and safety precautions are reviewed.
