A shooting incident occurred on Saturday along Interstate 75 in a rural area south of Lexington, Kentucky, leaving multiple people injured. The Laurel County Sheriff’s office declared it an “active shooter situation” and confirmed that “numerous persons” were shot near the highway.
Authorities swiftly closed Interstate 75 nine miles north of London, Kentucky, due to the ongoing incident. The sheriff’s office also announced that a “Person of Interest” had been identified in connection with the shooting. The suspect, identified as Joseph A. Couch, a 32-year-old white male, is considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged not to approach him. Anyone with information about Couch’s location is advised to contact the county 911 center.
