Mumbai cricketer Musheer Khan has provided an update on his condition following a car accident in the outskirts of Lucknow. The 19-year-old, brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, was involved in the accident earlier this week, sustaining neck injuries. He is currently recovering in the hospital and is expected to be out of action for the start of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season, which begins on October 11.
In a video post on Instagram, Musheer expressed his gratitude for his recovery and the support he has received. “First of all, I want to thank almighty Allah for granting me a new life. I’m fine as of now, and abbu [father] was with me [in the crash], and he’s fine too. I just want to thank all of you for your blessings,” he said.
The accident occurred as Musheer was traveling from Azamgarh to Lucknow to join the Mumbai squad for the Irani Cup match against Rest of India, starting on October 1. According to a bulletin released by the Medanta hospital in Lucknow, Musheer was admitted late on September 27 with pain in his neck. The hospital confirmed that he was out of danger.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) issued a statement regarding Musheer’s condition, confirming his injuries and ongoing recovery. “Musheer is currently admitted to a hospital in Lucknow, where he remains stable, conscious, and well-oriented. He has sustained a fracture in the neck region and is under close observation,” the statement read.
Musheer’s father, Naushad Khan, also expressed his gratitude for the support and care their family has received. “First of all, I thank god for granting us this new life, and thank all the people who prayed for us, all our well-wishers, fans, our relatives,” he said. “I also want to thank the MCA and the BCCI who are taking full care of Musheer, and they will give you whatever updates there are in the future.”
Musheer’s recovery will be closely monitored as he aims to return to the field as soon as possible. His absence from the Ranji Trophy will undoubtedly be a blow to Mumbai’s campaign, but his well-being remains the priority for the team and his family.
