Mumbai Crime Branch Arrests Fifth Accused in Salman Khan Residence Firing Case

Mumbai Crime Branch Arrests Fifth Suspect in Salman Khan Case

The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a fifth suspect, Mohammad Chaudhary, in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence. Chaudhary is being brought to Mumbai, where he will be produced in court, and the police will seek his custody.

Previous Arrests

On April 14, two motorbike-borne shooters opened fire outside Salman Khan’s residence, leading to the arrest of four individuals: Anuj Thapan, Sonu Bishnoi, Sagar Pal, and Vicky Gupta. Thapan and Bishnoi were apprehended in Punjab on April 26 for allegedly supplying weapons for the attack.

Death of Anuj Thapan

However, the case took a tragic turn on May 1 when Anuj Thapan died by suicide while in police custody. He was found hanging in the toilet of the lock-up inside the police commissioner’s office compound. The death of Thapan has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his demise.

CBI Probe Sought

Thapan’s family has approached the Bombay High Court, seeking a CBI probe into his death. They have alleged foul play and claimed that Thapan was killed. The petition alleges that he was physically assaulted and tortured by the police.

The investigation into the firing incident and Thapan’s death is ongoing, with the Mumbai Crime Branch continuing its efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
