A doctor in Mumbai has fallen victim to a ‘share market scam’ involving a deepfake video of Mukesh Ambani on Instagram, allegedly losing over ₹7 lakh. The case has been registered under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66(D) of the IT Act, following a complaint filed with Mumbai Police, ANI reported.

The incident occurred between April 15-17, when a 54-year-old doctor lost over ₹7 lakhs. According to her statement, she encountered a deepfake reel of industrialist Mukesh Ambani on Instagram, which purportedly provided investment advice. This led to her being added to a WhatsApp group through a link, where she was promised high profits.

She was then directed to download an app and instructed to deposit money into various accounts. However, she later realized that she had been scammed, prompting her to file a complaint with the police.
