Mumbai faced multiple fire incidents on Friday, keeping firefighters occupied throughout the city. These events, occurring during the festive season, highlight the ongoing fire safety challenges in the megacity.
One of the most notable fires erupted on the 30th floor of the Lodha Fiorenza building near Hub Mall in Goregaon. Fire brigade personnel quickly contained the blaze, arriving just minutes after the alarm was raised. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this case.
In another alarming incident, a fire broke out on the second floor of a building in Girgaon, forcing three residents to leap from a window to escape the flames. This fire, believed to be caused by an electrical short circuit, occurred early Friday morning at the three-storey Oceanic building in Hemraj Wadi, Chira Bazar. The individuals—Kartik Mazi (26), Dipender Mandal (19), and Uppal Mandal (26)—sustained injuries from the fall and were taken to Nair Hospital for treatment.
Adding to the day’s emergencies, a fire ignited in a slum area of suburban Andheri, likely originating from a godown. Thankfully, this incident did not result in any injuries either.
Later that evening, a fire broke out at a ration office on Phoenix Road in Sion, near Shanmukhanand Hall. This blaze occurred around 7 PM, but again, no injuries were reported.
These incidents underscore the critical importance of fire safety measures, particularly during festive times when the risk of fire accidents escalates due to increased electrical usage and the presence of flammable materials. Authorities urge residents to be vigilant and follow fire safety guidelines to prevent future incidents.
