A minor girl in Mumbai has bravely come forward to report a disturbing incident of harassment in the Janki Kutir area of Juhu. The 17-year-old, identified as Viyaa, shared a video on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) alleging that a man, with his pants down, was calling out to her in the middle of the street. This, she claimed, is the third time she has faced harassment at the same location, with different men involved.
In her post, Viyaa expressed her concern for the safety of the area and urged the Mumbai Police to take action. She shared that she had attempted to contact the Nirbhaya squad but her call went unanswered. Following Viyaa’s post, the Mumbai Police responded promptly, asking her to share her contact details in a private message for further investigation.
In a follow-up post, Viyaa expressed her gratitude towards the Mumbai Police for their quick response and the increased patrolling in the area. She shared that she felt safer and appreciated the police’s efforts to ensure the safety of women and children.
