Mumbai Hoarding Collapse Tragedy: Couple Found Deceased in Car Amid Decomposed State

The incident occurred when Manoj and Anita Chansoria, a retired Air Traffic Control (ATC) general manager and his wife, made a stop at a petrol pump in the Chheda Nagar area to refuel their vehicle. As a fierce storm swept through Mumbai, a massive, illegally erected hoarding collapsed onto their car, trapping them inside. A search and rescue operation was promptly initiated, and after an extensive 66-hour effort, the couple’s bodies were located in a severely decomposed state. The bodies were then transferred to the nearby Rajawadi Hospital for further examination. The collapse of the hoarding resulted in the tragic loss of 16 lives and injuries to 75 individuals. In response to this incident, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a comprehensive campaign to remove all illegal hoardings from the city. The BMC commissioner, Bhushan Gagrani, has emphasized that the removal of illegal hoardings is a top priority and that no unauthorized structures will be tolerated. The emphasis is on ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
