Despite their clinical 7-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous match, Mumbai Indians’ fate was sealed when Sunrisers Hyderabad exacted revenge with a 10-wicket victory against KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. Currently placed ninth in the points table, Mumbai Indians have won only four out of 12 matches this season, struggling to find consistency as a collective unit. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, star players like Rohit Sharma have lacked consistency in their performance, contributing to their downfall.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s victory propelled them to third position in the standings with 14 points from 12 games, while Lucknow Super Giants remain at sixth spot with 12 points from the same number of matches. Mumbai Indians’ last IPL game is against Lucknow Super Giants at home on May 17th. It remains to be seen whether the team management will rest India players bound for the T20 World Cup in the remaining matches.
