Mumbai Police Officers Suspended After CCTV Footage Shows Alleged Drug Planting

A shocking incident in Mumbai has led to the suspension of four police officers after CCTV footage allegedly revealed them planting drugs on a man during a raid. The video, which went viral, has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about police misconduct.

The incident occurred on Friday evening when officers from the Anti-Terror Cell of the Khar police station conducted a raid on an open plot of land in the Kalina area. They detained a man named Daniel, according to sources. However, CCTV footage of the raid purportedly shows one of the officers slipping something into Daniel’s hip pocket.

Speaking to a local news channel, Daniel claimed that the police initially threatened to frame him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He alleged that they only released him after realizing their actions were captured on CCTV.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XI) Rajtilak Roshan confirmed the suspension of the four officers, which includes a sub-inspector and three constables. He stated that disciplinary action was initiated against them for failing to follow proper procedure and for the suspicious actions seen in the video. The officers are currently suspended pending a thorough investigation.

An associate of Daniel, speaking to the news channel, alleged that Daniel was targeted at the request of a builder due to a dispute over the plot where the incident took place. This claim further adds to the complexity of the situation and raises questions about the motive behind the alleged drug planting.

This incident highlights the importance of transparency and accountability within law enforcement. The viral CCTV footage has brought to light a serious allegation of police misconduct, and it is crucial that a fair and impartial investigation is conducted to determine the truth of the matter. The outcome of the investigation will have significant implications for the public’s trust in the police force and will set a precedent for addressing such allegations in the future.
