A Mumbai-based teenager, Farhat Azam Shaikh, who went viral after performing a dangerous stunt on a local train earlier this year, has suffered a tragic consequence of his actions. He lost a leg and an arm as a result of the stunt he performed on April 14 at Masjid station.
The incident came to light after a video of Shaikh performing a stunt on a train at Sewri station on March 7 went viral on social media last week. Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials tracked him down after the video sparked outrage and calls for action.
Upon locating Shaikh, the RPF officers were shocked to see his injuries. He explained that the viral video was from March 7 and that he had lost his limb in the April 14 stunt. A case was registered against him by the Wadala unit of the RPF.
Shaikh was eventually traced to his Antop Hill residence in central Mumbai a few days later. The video had been shared widely on social media, with many calling for the stuntman to be jailed.
In response to the incident, the Mumbai division of Central Railways issued a statement urging passengers to refrain from such dangerous activities. The RPF also released a statement highlighting the life-threatening nature of such stunts and urged citizens to report any such incidents immediately.
Shaikh, who now faces extreme difficulty in performing daily chores, has urged all passengers to stay away from such acts through a new video message. He has become an example of the potential consequences of reckless behavior on public transportation.
The incident has raised serious concerns about passenger safety on local trains. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to preventing such incidents and have appealed to the public to cooperate in ensuring safe travel for all.
