Although no warning is in place for Mumbai on Wednesday, a yellow alert will be issued again from Thursday to Saturday, suggest media reports. In Raigad, an orange alert has been issued and will last until tomorrow morning. In Thane, a yellow alert has been declared and will remain in effect until the end of the week.
In the wake of the heavy rainfall forecast, Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has declared that all schools up to class 12 will remain closed today to prevent any potential emergencies. However, school staff, including principals, teachers, and non-teaching personnel, are required to report during office hours to assist with disaster management efforts led by the local administration. This closure impacts primary and secondary schools, as well as junior and senior colleges. Notifications regarding the closures have been issued by civic bodies including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, TMC, and authorities in Panvel and Navi Mumbai. Both government and private institutions are shut as a precautionary measure in response to the heavy rainfall warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
