In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through Maharashtra, a 24-year-old woman named Fatima Khan has been arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly making a death threat against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Khan, who holds a BSc degree in Information Technology and resides with her family in Ulhasnagar, Thane district, is believed to be experiencing mental instability, according to police officials.
The threat, delivered via a message to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp number on Saturday, referenced the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in Mumbai’s Bandra area on October 12. The message, sent from an unknown number, warned that CM Yogi would face the same fate if he didn’t resign within 10 days.
Following the threat, a joint operation was launched by the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Ulhasnagar police to trace the sender. Their investigation led them to Khan, who was subsequently apprehended. The police are currently investigating the matter further.
The incident has put authorities on high alert as Adityanath is expected to visit Maharashtra for campaigning in the upcoming November 20 state assembly polls. This heightened security concern comes after a previous threat incident in March, where a chief constable at the security headquarters received a call threatening to blow up CM Yogi with a bomb. While the caller’s identity remains unknown, the incident highlights the increasing vulnerability of high-profile individuals to threats.
Fatima Khan’s arrest serves as a stark reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the potential dangers posed by individuals experiencing mental instability. It also underscores the need for robust security measures to protect public figures and maintain public order.
